Andrew Hayward spent thirty years in technology, IT and software, latterly leading businesses in the sector. The Ordinary Dawn grew out of that: a long acquaintance with institutions — how they keep faith, how they lose it, and what they do to the people inside them while everyone behaves reasonably. It is a trilogy about an occupied country, but it is mostly about organisations, language, and who gets believed.

He has read science fiction, fantasy and thrillers for as long as he can remember, and this story borrows the forward pull of the thriller for a premise that is not, in the end, very far away.

The trilogy is complete — written through to its ending before the first book was published — and is published by Foreshore Publishing.
